Today, well today is a different day, today I bring you Apparat’s new video for his single ‘Black Water’.
It’s not a particularly entertaining video, it won’t make you laugh (unlike Chromeo’s video for ‘When The Night Falls’) It won’t make you cry, it probably won’t make any difference to your day. You may be left feeling slightly confused as to why I posted this? And also to what this video is meant to represent. But I’ll leave the analysing to the art students and the pretentious. I do however like the song. My opinion of Apparat, once a sound opinion ( I liked Sascha Ring, I had time for him) grew immensely after him and the band’s brilliant performance at Melt! Festival this July (See Bright Colour’s review below for more detail of Melt!). Apparat is so incredibly German, that their performance was like a well fitted boot to the festival. Stand out songs were ‘Ash/Black Veil’ and the well received ‘Rusty Nails’ from his collaboration with Modeselektor in 2009.
If you ever have the chance to see Apparat, I highly recommend. However it is best suited to a sandy beach location in the heart of Germany.
