How OK is it to have a massive girl crush on Robyn? Is she a guilty pleasure, or plain amazing? Call Your Girlfriend is not exactly new, not exactly inspired, and not my usual cup of tea. There is just SOMETHING about her that makes me want to don my heels and drink rose. It’s not so much her music, as her. Move aside Lady Gaga, Robyn has you beat hands down in terms of orgionality- and she doesn’t have to wear a meaty dress or tell us all about her love for S&M (ahem, Rihanna). She joins the ranks of the girl in the Crave You video (and the boy in that video, thats a girl too), Alexa Chung, Laura Marling and, although I harbor some resentment, Lykki Li. Girl crush galore.
But what brought on this onslaught of Robyn loving… nothing less than the release of the video for Call Your Girlfriend yesterday.
I love her hair. I love her outfit. But most of all, I’ll be damned if I haven’t got those dance moves down to a T before the summer…
